Passing of Golden Eagle Spouse Mrs. Jean FitzPatrick

It is my very sad duty to report the passing of Mrs. Jean FitzPatrick, Spouse of  Golden Eagle  RDML Dennis FITZPATRICK, USN (Ret), on Saturday, 17 October 2026. She was born on 12 January 1958, in Bethpage, New York. Following moves to Bay Village, Ohio, and Manlius, New York, her family settled in Delmar, New York, where she and Dennis attended High School together. She graduated from Boston College in May 1980 and became a Claims Supervisor for Liberty Mutual. She married the love of her life, Dennis FITZPATRICK, on 9 July 1983 in Albany, New York.

They began their Navy adventures with moves to Jacksonville, Florida; Alexandria, Virginia; Newport, Rhode Island; Lemoore, California; Goose Creek, South Carolina and Virginia Beach, Virginia. She was a dedicated Navy Wife, supporting Dennis during his 31-year career and raising three children, Mary Frances, Timmy and Denny, with love and strength during many separations and deployments. She was a cherished member of the Navy spouse community, a sought-after volunteer and became a close friend and loved one to many across the country.

Jean is survived by her husband, Dennis FITZPATRICK and their three children; Mary Frances / LCDR Keith Barth of Chesapeake, Virginia; Timothy / Mrs. Lori FitzPatrick of Midlothian, Virginia; and Dennis Jr. of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and four awesome grandchildren. Other siblings include Jane Cook (Henry), Peter (Alice) and Paul (Virginia), loving mother-in-law and quilting partner in crime Frances FitzPatrick, brothers-in-law Tim and Michael, sisters-in-law Katy (Matt) and Maggie (Tim) and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

A funeral mass will be held on 13 November 2026 at 1100 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 5345 Virginia Beach Blvd., Virginia Beach, VA 23462. There will be reception after the service at the Lesner Inn, 3319 Shore Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23451 at 1330.

Burial/interment will be held at a later date.
