Special Notice: 1216

Dear Golden Eagles,

It is my sad duty to inform you that Mrs. Roberta “Bobbe” Herlihy, widow of Maj George B. Herlihy, USMC (Ret), who made his Last Take-Off on August 5, 2013, died on April 11, 2016 in Santa Anna, CA.  Bobbe was born on May 22, 1921 and died one month before her 96th birthday.  Her grandson, Mike Herlihy, has escorted Bobbe to several West Flight Golden Eagle Luncheons, so many of the Golden Eagles have seen her in the past few years.

Mike provided the following:  “Although her time with The Golden Eagles was too short, it was one of the highlights of her life.  On behalf of the Herlihy family, it is with deep regret we share the passing of Roberta “Bobbe” Herlihy. Bobbe was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, godmother, and a wonderful friend to many. Her passing, no doubt, leaves a void in the hearts of countless loved ones, but it goes without saying all were grateful to have had the many loving years she gave everyone.  She passes to join the love of her life, George Herlihy, whom she expressed how much she missed him every day after he died.  Bobbe was very proud of the life that she and George had built together; and if you were lucky enough to have spoken with her, she would have told you about her life as a Marine wife.  Bobbe is survived by her four children, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.” She will be missed!

In Sadness, Don Boecker-Pilot
