Special Notice: 0416

Dear Golden Eagles,

It is my sad duty to inform you that Mrs. Ruth Barbe Haller, wife of Emeritus Member, CAPT Morris E. Haller, USN (Ret) passed away peacefully on November 3, 2015 in Stonegate Comfort Care in Centennial, CO.  Ruth Barbe was born in Mapletown, PA, on August 12, 1921 and was raised in Morgantown, WV. Her father Leslie Arthur Barbe was a lawyer and her mother, Virginia Williams Barbe, was a homemaker.

Ruth met Morris in high school and they both attended West Virginia University and they were married on June 23, 1941 after Morris earned his wings.  Ruth and Morris adopted a girl, Patricia “Tish” Haller Bosko in 1946 and David Haller in 1948.  David passed away in 2000.  Ruth enjoyed cooking, entertaining, sewing, golf and travel and spending time in their 2nd home in the mountains in Sky Valley, GA.  She volunteered many hours in the thrift shop for Habitat for Humanity in Georgia.   Ruth and Morris were married for 74 ½ years when she passed away.  They had a wonderful marriage and a long life together. Their daughter Tish said  ”I could not have had a more wonderful set of parents, they are truly missed.”

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be given in Ruth’s memory to the Atlanta, GA, Habitat for Humanity, the Navy/Marine Corps Relief Society, 875 N. Randolph St., Suite 225, Arlington, VA 22203 or charity of your choice.
